Use Companion in Process explorer

Process explorer offers an additional Companion chat panel that contains specific analysis options. The chat panel provides a selection of tasks that Companion can perform based on the visible process data and specifically selected measures. In addition, you can configure the measures and chat with Companion to improve your process analyses. The Companion chat panel is available for your activity flow and process variants analyses in Process explorer.

For example, typical tasks are "Could you provide a description of the process underlying data?" or "Could you identify the main anomalies in this data...?". The results to the tasks consider all filters set in the current analysis.

Note that the analyses and chats are only stored on the client side. The analyses and chats are lost when you close Companion.

Credits to use Companion

To use Companion, you need a sufficient number of credits. When you use Companion, you consume credits. The number of credits you can use depends on your ARIS AI Companion license and how many credits you have available for the AI functions. Credits are refilled once a month. If your credits are used up, you can purchase and update a new license that holds more credits. You can view the current status of available credits in the Overview section of the ARIS Process Mining administration. To view the credit usage, you need the Companion admin privilege.

Prerequisite

  • You have the ARIS AI Companion license.

  • You have enough credit left to use Companion.

  • You have the Companion user function privilege.

  • You have at least the ARIS Process Mining Viewer user role.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. Open the Process explorer app.

  2. Click the Companion Perform Companion AI analysis button in Process explorer and select a task in the drop-down menu.

You can configure the settings for a task before you select it.

    1. Move the mouse point to a task in the drop-down menu and click the process panel icon. The Configure analysis panel opens. Depending on whether you selected a task for an activity flow or process variants analysis, different options are available.

      Activity flow

By default, the Analyze visible activities and connections option is enabled. That is, your Process explorer settings are taken into account and only the activities and connections displayed in the activity flow are analyzed.

If you want to analyze all activities and connections, enable the Analyze all activities and connections option. In this case, all activities and connections of the process are taken into account, regardless of what you have selected and what is displayed in the process path.

      Process variants

By default, the Analyze the most frequently run variants option is enabled. This means that the most frequent process variants are analyzed.

If you want to take your selection of certain variants into account, enable the Analyze selected variants option. Note that this option is only available if the Variants panel is open, in which you can select the relevant variants.

    2. You can also change the measures analyzed by Companion. Click the Edit icon next to the measure you want to edit. In the Model panel select a measure and an aggregation.

If you want to use the initial measures, click Reset measures.

    3. Click Analyze.

The Companion chat panel opens and shows the result to the analysis in the form of a list.

If you use the default settings, that is, you use all activities and connections, or all variants, a field is displayed at the bottom of the results list that allows you to run the task again with selected activities or variants.

  3. At the bottom of the chat panel you can type follow-up tasks in a chat box.

    1. Enter your message in the chat box.

    2. Click the Send icon or press Return to send your message.

      You chat with Companion.

You performed an analysis in Process explorer using Companion.

  • To perform another task, click the More options icon in the chat panel and select a task from the drop-down menu. Note that your previous settings are reset.

  • You can set filters or change the selection in Process explorer and perform the task again without closing Companion. Change the selection in Process explorer or set a filter using the filter bar -> click Refresh Perform the task again with the selected data and current filter in the chat panel.

  • To configure the settings of the current question, click the process panel icon in the chat panel. The Configure analysis panel opens. Make your setting as described above.

  • You can select activities and connections in the results list and highlight them in the activity flow. To do this, click an activity or a connection in the results list (the arrow (->) between two activities).

  • To display context information on the performed analysis, click Show sources at the bottom of the analysis result. You can see how many elements were considered in the analysis. Due to limitations of the underlying AI models the analysis is limited to the most relevant elements depending on the question you selected. If the entry is red, not all elements could be considered.
